Convince Your Children to Read More with These 3 Books
For children, reading preparation and reading improvement are important milestones in their development. However, with computer games, PlayStations and apps taking up a large amount of their attention day in and day out, convincing a child to read is much more difficult for parents nowadays than it was when they were children 20 – 30 years ago. Luckily, we have found three of the most wonderful books of recent times that even the most tech-savvy of youngsters won’t be able to put down. Here are our recommendations:
- The Turtle of Oman by Naomi Shihab Nye
This book is a modern masterpiece which has been written to aid reading development in children between the ages of 6 and 9. The best part is that it will do so much more than simply inspire a love of reading in your children… it will also teach them about a new culture, a different way of life, the importance of family and the importance of being proud of who you are and where you come from. It centres around a young boy who is about to move to Michigan away from his native country of Oman. The story follows him as he spends his last few days exploring his beloved country with his grandfather. A heart-warming tale, to be sure.

It is another masterpiece that will aid young readers in their development and is also sure to improve their knowledge about world events and issues that humans are currently facing. According to many experts, it is predicted to eventually become a standard reading book in high schools all over the globe. The way in which it is written is quite beautiful and certain to grab the attention of many a young mind. It focuses on a father who is writing a letter to his teenage son. He speaks about the realities and feelings associated with being black and living in the United States, and how to cope with it all.
